Six companies named finalists in Alabama Launchpad

Birmingham, AL, Oct. 22 -- Six companies are advancing as finalists in the Alabama Launchpad Startup Competition. The Economic Development Partnership of Alabama, which sponsors Launchpad, announced the six early-stage companies that will make their final pitches at the Alabama Launchpad Startup Competition in Fort Payne, Alabama on Nov 14.

The startups are competing along two tracks: concept stage for entrepreneurs launching businesses and seed stage for businesses accelerating growth.

A judging panel comprised of five individuals representing investors, entrepreneurs, and corporate stakeholders from across the state selected six early-stage startups to compete in the Alabama Launchpad Startup Competition Finale.

The six finalists will make their pitches before the judges at the competition finale on Nov. 14 at 4 p.m. at the DeKalb Theatre in Fort Payne, Alabama. The judges will select a concept startup winner to win a $50,000 cash prize and a seed winner to receive a $100,000 cash prize.

I-59 Fort Payne Industrial Park Receives AdvantageSite Designation

 BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Jan. 18 – The I-59 Fort Payne Industrial Park in DeKalb County has received the Alabama AdvantageSite designation. 

The AdvantageSite program requires that community economic development organizations provide documentation specific to a proposed industrial site, including a set of standard data related to ownership/control, environmental and geotechnical conditions, and infrastructure status. Sites must also meet size, zoning and accessibility requirements.   

The 39-acre industrial park is located within the Fort Payne city limits and has access to Interstate 59 via Jordan Road and Alabama 35. All utilities are at the site. The park also is located in a New Market Tax Credit area of the state.

5th Annual Made In DeKalb Expo Success

The Fifth Annual Made In DeKalb (MID) Expo was a huge success yesterday as over 1,800 students were able to meet the industries in DeKalb County Alabama. 15 of the 16 Career Clusters were represented by 74 participating vendors such as transportation, logistics, construction, engineering, agriculture, tourism, mechanics, cosmetology, healthcare, and the media met their future workforce.  Read More...
